Did you just complete a Try Hockey for Free session, and are looking to sign up for our New to SPYHA Hockey session? Please see our New to SPYHA Hockey registration page.
2019-2020 Season Registration for Mite and travel level players is now closed. If still needing to register, please contact the Executive Committee at email@example.com for further information.
Mini-Mite registration remains open.
Please review all information before using the registration link at the bottom of this page.
For Mite and Mini-Mite players, registration is $50. Travel players (Squirts, PeeWees, Bantams and Midget levels) who register by September 1st will be offered a $200 discount off the registration fee, making the fee $100. Any travel player who registers after the registration deadline on September 15th is not guaranteed a roster spot. The registration fee is not refundable.
SPYHA welcomes families who reside within the Sun Prairie Area School District. If you happen to live outside of the Sun Prairie Area School District and have not registered with SPYHA before, please contact the SPYHA Executive Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can help you navigate the requirements for participating in Sun Prairie Youth Hockey. Our governing body, Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association, has strict boundary requirements that apply to all hockey players, regardless of level. If you open-enroll in Sun Prairie, but reside outside the school district boundaries, you are considered out-of-district for hockey purposes.
This is particularly important for families who reside within the Monona Grove School District, as the Madison Patriots are the home association for skaters within those boundaries. A release from the Patriots is required to skate in Sun Prairie. This is a state-level policy, not a SPYHA policy.
The practice schedule will be available on the SPYHA Calendar in early October (through the end of December). Typically Squirts, PeeWees and Bantams have a skills practice on Mondays (all teams at a level on the ice at the same time), and then there are two teams on the ice for practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Occasionally there may be an early morning practice or Friday practice. On certain Varsity game weeks, skills practices will be moved to the night of the Varsity game.
Mites typically practice on Monday nights (at 5:15 pm or 6 pm), Wednesday nights (at 6:15 pm or 7pm) and some early Saturday afternoons or an occasional Friday night. All practices are 45 minutes unless communicated otherwise. League half-ice games at other rinks are typically scheduled for Sundays, but that information will not be available until early November.
Mini-Mites typically practice on Wednesday nights (usually 5:30 pm), with some Saturdays (late morning/early afternoon) or Friday evenings (around 5:30 pm). These practices are also 45 minutes. In each session (Oct.-Dec. and Jan.-Mar.), there is at least one special Sunday "game day."
Jamborees (half-ice and cross-ice games) for Mites and Mini-Mites played at other rinks are optional activities that will be discussed in the future.
Use the birth year information below to help determine what age range to register your player. Note that beginning players typically begin at the Mini-Mite or Mite level, or begin with the Learn to Skate/New to SPYHA Hockey program). If you are uncertain what level to register for, please contact the Executive Committee at email@example.com.
